Recovering Office Files
If a file is lost from Word, Excel or PowerPoint on a ECN-domain computer, it is possible to recover the file in certain situations.
It is possible that the automatic document recovery will kick in the next time you start the program. For the best success, try to use the computer where you were working when you lost the work.
If this fails, Office might have the file available via the Open-> Recent Documents dialog. To access this, open the program that you were editing the document in, click "File", then "Open", then "Recent Documents". At the bottom of "Recent Documents" (you might need to scroll down), there should be a button for "Recover Unsaved Documents". This usually reads from C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles
If this fails, it may have been saved to the AutoSave location. To check on this, open the program that you were editing the document in, click "File", then "Options" (down on the left side), then "Save" (on the left side). It should tell you the default save location, usually "U:\Personal" - in this directory, there might be files called "Untitled [Autosave]", "Document1 [Autosave]", or whatever else your document was called.
One final location where it might be saved is in "R:\AppData\Microsoft\Word", "R:\AppData\Microsoft\Excel", or "R:\AppData\Microsoft\PowerPoint", depending on what generated the file.
