Professor Jan Allebach receives IS&T 2015 Service Award

The Society for Imaging Science & Technology bestows the award to an individual in recognition of outstanding service to a Chapter or to the Society. Professor Allebach was recognized for creating the new Electronic Imaging Conference Measuring, Modeling, and Reproducing Material Appearance.

PhD Candidates Aida Ebrahimi and Nate Kinsey receive Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship Awards

The Fellowship is highly competitive and recognizes students' superior academic abilities and scholarly achievements. The title of Aida's dissertation is "Droplet-based non-Faradaic Impedance Sensing for Combating Antibiotic Resistance". She is advised by Professor Muhammad Ashraful Alam. Nate's dissertation is "A Platform for Practical Nanophotonics: Nitrides and Oxides for Integrated Optical Devices". He is advised by Professor Alexandra Boltasseva.

Professors Alex Quinn and Saurabh Bagchi receive Google Faculty Research Award

Google Research Awards are "structured as unrestricted gifts to universities to support the work of world-class full-time faculty members at top universities around the world." The project that earned this Google Research Award is titled "Man with machine in the battle against fake consumer reviews".

Professor Ed Delp named Scientist of the Year by IS&T/SPIE

He was cited "for contributions to multimedia security and image and video compression." The groups are the Society for Imaging Science and Technology and SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics. Previous ECE winners are Jan Allebach (2004) and Charlie Bouman (2014). No other organization can boast more than one winner.
