Unfinished: The Mystery of the 130-Year-Old Diploma

The 1892 calfskin was in amazing condition. A die-cut gold seal adorned the left side, and precisely-drawn calligraphy augmented the crisp printed blackletter text. It was so robust, you could have mistaken it for a modern diploma accidentally shoved into a cardboard box on moving day. But there was one problem: it was unfinished.
