Purdue ME faculty elected ASME Fellows

Jun Chen, Greg Shaver, and Pavlos Vlachos have all been elected as Fellows in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). ASME Fellows have at least 10 years active membership in ASME, and are shown to be responsible for significant engineering achievements.

Jun Chen

Jun Chen is an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering, focused on fluid dynamics.  He uses digital holography as a multiphase flow diagnostic tool, and has applied his expertise to underwater energy-generating turbines, aerodynamic noise, and cardiovascular flow.

Greg Shaver

Greg Shaver is a professor of Mechanical Engineering, focused on maximizing efficiency of commercial vehicle powertrains, and demonstrating connected and autonomous vehicles.  He is leading the effort to make class-8 tractor-trailers capable of platooning with each other autonomously, saving fuel and making the roads safer.

Pavlos Vlachos

Pavlos Vlachos is a professor of Mechanical Engineering, focused on experimental fluid dynamics; and measurement and data science. His specialty is in biomedical imaging, especially those that monitor and analyze cardiovascular health.
