The Indianapolis Business Journal recently named Purdue University Minority Engineering Program (MEP) director Virginia Booth Womack to its 2020 Women of Influence list.



Womack (BSIE ’91, BA Psychology ’92) is a nationally-recognized engineering educator, commended for her professional experience, leadership, vision, community service & mentorship. In 1978 she was the first female national chair of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), then later helped found Purdue NSBE & has led MEP in achieving significant milestones for underrepresented minority students.

The Indiana Space Grant Consortium, headquartered at Purdue University, has received a $2.8 million grant from NASA to support student and faculty learning projects.
