Doctoral Candidate Shawn Jordan Leads "Rube Goldbergineering" Course
The course, offered to high school students through Purdue's Gifted Education Resource Institute, teaches engineering design through the creation of wacky, Rube Goldberg–style machines—in this case, a device for watering a cactus in Arizona and another for creating a music video featuring the theme song to The Big Bang Theory.

Erica Timmerman Named Assistant Director of First-Year Engineering Advising
On the advising staff since 2009, Timmerman has advised and mentored engineering students including S-STEM Scholars and Twenty-First Century Scholars and is this year's recipient of ENE's McDowell Award for excellence in advising.

The Clifton L. Lovell Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and Engineering Education, Wankat (who just marked his 40th year on Purdue's faculty) was recognized for the paper "The Role of Chemical Engineering in Engineering Education Research."

Student Team Chosen for “Mobile Design Boost”
Engineering Education doctoral students Shawn Jordan and Hanjun Xian, with Ag Economics student Kate Mane, will participate in this “boot camp” for prototyping digital learning products, sponsored by IDEO and Startl. The team’s project: an iPhone app called the "EcoExplorer.”
