New Faculty Spotlight: Jason McKinney

Hometown:
I was born in Bethesda, MD and have lived a variety of places, but consider Indianapolis, IN my hometown.
What inspired you to get into engineering?
I enjoy building things and I playing / making music - engineering provided a path to potentially do both.
What are your research interests?
Microwave photonics, optics, RF systems, signal processing
What drew you to Purdue ECE?
The quality of the program, the diverse faculty and research environment, and personal experience (I'm a Purdue ECE grad).
What classes do you teach?
Thus far, engineering optics (ECE30416), fiber optics / optoelectronics (ECE30414), and electrical engineering fundamentals (ECE20001).
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy biking and the outdoors, walking my dogs, playing guitar, and spending time with my family.
