ECE PhD student wins Best Paper award at DATE Conference
Kim was first author on the paper entitled "Data Subsetting: A Data-Centric Approach to Approximate Computing," which was chosen as best paper in the Embedded Systems track.

“It is such an honor to have my work acknowledged by the research community with this award,” says Kim. “I hope software designers find it a practical approach for tackling memory bottleneck with approximate computing.”
The paper was co-authored by Swagath Venkataramani, a Purdue ECE alumnus who now works at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Nitin Chandrachoodan, a professor of electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and a Fulbright Scholar at Purdue, and Raghunathan, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Purdue.
The DATE conference brings together designers and design automation users, researchers and vendors, as well as specialists in hardware and software design, test and manufacturing of electronic circuits and systems. The event is sponsored by the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). DATE 2019 received 834 submissions. It was held from March 25th-29th in Florence, Italy.
