Ashley Maddock

Undergraduate Student
Hometown: Dallas, TX
Major: Electrical Engineering

I want to use the opportunity I have been given in Purdue's Electrical Engineering program to help develop technology in the area of natural disaster prevention and relief.

Why did you choose to study electrical and computer engineering?

As a freshman in my solar racing club, I enjoyed the work I was given on the electrical team and wanted to continue taking courses that would allow me to learn more about electrical devices and designs.

Favorite Purdue ECE class (so far!) and why:

So far, I am enjoying my linear circuit analysis two class (ECE 202). This is the first class I have been able to see how my coursework will have real world applications.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential Purdue ECE student?

Get involved in ECE clubs and organizations. It is a great way to get to meet upperclassmen who can share their experiences in a variety of ECE courses, concentrations and labs you might want to take.

Who is someone in industry that you look up to and why?

In industry, I look up to Purdue Aluma Lila Ibrahim. She was able to use her engineering degree to improve access to education and give back to the global community through Coursera and Team4Tech.

What is your ultimate career goal?

I want to use the opportunity I have been given in Purdue's Electrical Engineering program to help develop technology in the area of natural disaster prevention and relief.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy running and rock climbing.
