AAE Prof. James Garrison and Prof. Michael Sangid named University Faculty Scholars

AAE Professor James Garrison and Professor Michael Sangid were both named University Faculty Scholars (UFS) this year. The UFS program, offered through the Office of the Provost, recognizes outstanding faculty at the West Lafayette campus who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.
Eligible faculty are full professors who have been in that rank for no more than five years at the time of designation, and tenured associate professors. In addition to meeting university criteria, Engineering UFS nominees must show evidence of the impact of their work, as well as a compelling vision of the potential impact of future activities.
University Faculty Scholars are nominated by their academic areas, reviewed by a committee of named and distinguished professors in the College of Engineering that makes a recommendation to the dean, and approved by the provost. They receive funding to support their research. The newly named University Faculty Scholars are beginning their five-year terms this semester, Fall 2022.
Other AAE faculty currently in their 5-year term as University Faculty Scholars are: Timothée Pourpoint (2020-2025) and Inseok Hwang (2017-2022).
